Vampire Weekend - headed for Denver and a backlash?

The interwebs are talking about an inevitable Vampire Weekend backlash today (thx to Julio for the tip)...

No backlash here, as I kind of never understood the Vampire Weekend allure to begin with. Given my past, I can safely say I'm comfortable with their preppiness, and lord knows I enjoyed some Paul Simon before, during and after my preppy days.

The album just doesn't click with me. What am I missing? Hoped to see their last live show but weather being what it is at 7220 feet, did not make it.

Fill me in on why I should love Vampire Weekend. Please.

Sounds like they're making another Mile High appearance, I need to check it out in person.

I *heart* Vampire Weekend. Preppiness aside, there's all those violins. And clever lyrics. And Walcott. I am so in love with Walcott... I've never heard a more upbeat song about vampire invasion. But I've loved them since I was tipped off last August. I guess they're just not for everyone... ;)

And I'm thrilled I get another chance to see them at a small venue. I missed the last show due to weather as well, though I live a mere 15 minutes from downtown Denver so I've really got no excuse...

I caught the bluebird show and can attest to their wonderfulness, as well as the opening act, Grand Ole Party (love me some hot female drummers/lead singers). It's just enjoyable music, you really don't have to dissect it beyond that. You don't have to get it, just enjoy it.
