Mid-year Top 5
The quiet of the past week offered a perfect chance to revisit the year's albums and think about what really stands out after repeated listens. That and it was time to make our semi-annual mixed cd to distribute while watching friends light fireworks.
Top 5 albums of 2007, so far:
Arcade Fire -- Neon Bible
LCD Soundsystem -- Sound of Silver
Feist -- The Reminder
The National -- Boxer
Pela -- Anytown Graffiti (repeat listening of this song brings joy [via kexp])
Honorable Mentions:
White Stripes -- Icky Thump (this one might make it to the top yet)
!!! -- Myth Takes
Cloud Cult -- Meaning of 8
Menomena -- Friend and Foe
Of all the above, the Feist album surprised me most, her songwriting truly matches her beautiful voice now.

July is nice for live music
It's been a quiet week here in the Gem City, lots of fireworks and beer, not so much music news.
Let's take a look at what's coming up for the rest of the month out here in the Rocky Mountain West...
July 16 -- BOAT, Appaloosa Grill (where the heck is this?)
July 21 -- Tokyo Police Club, Larimer Lounge
July 30 -- Silversun Pickups, Ogden
July 30 -- Hot Hot Heat & Snow Patrol, Red Rocks
July 31 -- Daft Punk, Red Rocks
July 31 -- Smoosh, Blitzen Trapper, Aqueduct -- Hi-Dive
Pleased to see the Pacific Northwest representing in Denver this month. And hoping to make TPC and SSP, but it's all in the air. I spent my concert money on tickets for September already.
